January Clean The House Challenge

Bubbling Brook Farm had the wonderful idea of getting the house clean and organized in January. I love it - our house is a real mess right now so I needed someone to give me a "kick".

The first day's task was to find and sort all batteries in the house. Sorry, not for me. If there are loose batteries in our house, they lay in the deepest, darkest corners where one never looks and I am still too sick to clean properly. All others are found and thrown out in regular basis. AND we are not going to replace the dead ones beacuse ... in a house with three little boys you get all sorts of beeping, snoring, ticking and moving toys (not to mention the ever-popular VROOOOOOM!), that are all much better left to beep, snore, tick and move until the batteries are dead ... for ever. We never buy any battery-operated toys, but they tend to sneak in via friends and extended family.

So I decided to sort my seeds instead. After all, it is Jan 2nd, so we are officially allowed to prepare for spring. :) I looked through all my seeds packages and threw out those that are gone over or that I have tried and decided that they are not worth the work. Like corn - it just won't grow in our soil. Then I made a list of all sorts of seeds I want to buy this spring. ... 40 packages. In the same time, WonderfulHusband was planting some lemon seeds found in a lemon recently. We hope to get a couple of young lemon trees from that. We also agreed to plant two more plum trees and a cherry tree this spring.

I'm sorry that I couldn't participate properly today. Maybe tomorrow's task will suit us better.

Edit a few hours later: next to my seeds box I actually did find an ugly-looking battery and threw this out, so I was able to do something with batteries after all!
