The Kitchen Makeover

Some days before Christmas WonderfulHusband looked at the broken tiles in front of the woodstove and said that it is about time to replace them with nice new ones. I agreed, of course. The I looked at the letterbox-red walls that looed quite tired and asked if he would agree to re-paint the walls, too.

This is how the walls looked before. The cat is our big tom Mau who got lost a couple of years ago, probably got killed by the vicious dogs of a neighbour and um the door is another unfinished project. The red colour was actually completely wrong, probably some mistake of the paint shop, but we decided to keep it for some time. Maybe this is also the reason why so many things in this kitchen were unfinished!

This picture I took today. We tried first a lighter brown tone, but this seemed still too brown and not enough terra cotta. The one we settled to is much better. As you see, we were already able to put the fridge back.

Half of the kitchen is still red/brown, but we are making progress! Painting the olive branches is a time-consuming job but I think this is worth it.
