The weather has turned colder lately, but not too cold, abut 23'F. I have cleaned our driveway of snow twice - compared to last year this is a picnic. Unfortunately this is the "math week" at the school where WonderfulHusband works and he had a meeting in the preschool of our boys yesterday (he is the representative parent of our boys' class in Parents Board or something like that). That means getting home late. Getting home later than usual means that I have to invent fast meals and that our house is really cold. Heating with wood does that. I am freezing all the time, WonderfulHusband is not happy about the "fast-food" like soups and pasta, and there's still so much work to do. The Big Ugly Cupboard in the kitchen still needs to be painted, I have to sew the knight clothes for our big party on Sunday, there are several areas of the house that I'd like to have clean before I let any guests come in, and I cannot sleep at night. Partly because when the boys finally fall asleep, I want some child-free time for reading or watching something on TV. Partly because I obviously have too much stress. Add going without lunch because at proper lunchtime I am too busy at work and later I just think that I could manage without buying food that I could make at home much better, cheaper and healthier ... and you get a really mean Mommy.
I am not going to do any proper housework tonight anymore, although I have at least three hours before going to bed (going to sleep earlier is no good, then I wake up at 2 am and stay awake until 5 am - means being tired next day). I just tuck the boys into bed (with a bedtime story!), take care of heating, because this is inevitable, and curl up with a book, a cup of hot chocolate, a cat and some knitting. Maybe this will help. The boys need a happy Mommy and my husband needs a wife who nags less.
